Reimagining Tradition with Color & Material with Rüya Akyol - 10 to 11:30 AM
An engaging and creative workshop where participants will explore the intersection of tradition and contemporary design.
In the hands-on session, we will reinterpret traditional objects from diverse cultural backgrounds, transforming them into modern pieces that maintain their historical significance.
Weaving with Light with Etienne Bastormagi - 12 to 1:30 PM
Participants will explore the concept of mashrabiya, a traditional architectural screen, and reinterpret it as an interactive object.By designing perforated panels, they will experiment with light, shadow, and modularity, exploring how traditional patterns can be used in contemporary design.
Redefining Rest: A Cross-Cultural Design Challenge with Abdulrahman Al-Muftah - 2 to 3:30 PM
This workshop challenges designers to reconsider contemporary design practices through cross-cultural collaboration. By examining the concept of “seating" participants will engage in a design thinking process that transcends cultural assumptions.
Drawing from their own cultural backgrounds alongside diverse global perspectives, participants will explore how cultural contexts shape our fundamental understanding of human-centered design.
